Story of Sew Unique

Interiors by Sew Unique was built on vision, grit, and a belief that beautiful spaces change the way people live.

What began as a one-room operation with a single sewing machine has grown into a full-service interior design firm specializing in renovations, remodeling, and thoughtfully curated interiors. For more than 35 years, we’ve helped homeowners transform everyday spaces into refined, functional environments that feel uniquely theirs.

Our work blends creativity with precision — pairing inspired design with strong project management and seamless execution. From single-room refreshes to full-scale transformations, we partner closely with our clients to bring their dreams home with intention, beauty, and care.

Meet the Team

Jacque is an engineer by training, an athlete at heart, and an entrepreneur by nature — someone who has always believed that every success and every challenge is simply preparation for the next level.

A high achiever from the start, Jacque ranked in the top 10 of her high school graduating class and earned multiple academic scholarship offers. Still, basketball was her first love. She chose Vanderbilt University on a full athletic scholarship, where she balanced the demands of Division I athletics while earning her degree in Electrical Engineering.

After graduation, she moved to Atlanta to pursue a professional basketball career with the Georgia Peaches. When the league folded, Jacque seamlessly pivoted to her backup plan, beginning a five-year career as a process control engineer with Simons Eastern, a pulp and paper consulting firm. There, she sharpened the analytical thinking, discipline, and problem-solving skills that continue to influence her work today.

But design had quietly been calling.

After purchasing and decorating her first home, guests at her housewarming repeatedly asked who her decorator was. Her answer — “I am” — sparked what would become her life’s work.

What started with one sewing machine and one employee grew into Interiors by Sew Unique, now a respected full-service design firm known for thoughtful renovations, refined interiors, and personalized service. Today, Jacque blends creativity with precision to transform homes into spaces that are elevated, functional, and uniquely reflective of the families who live in them.

Monica has always believed that home should feel both beautiful and welcoming — a place that truly rises up to greet you.

Growing up in Nashville, she developed an early love for interiors while tagging along on furniture shopping trips with her mother, imagining how each piece could transform a space. That natural eye for design stayed with her through every season of life, from her first apartment to creating a warm, stylish home for her family.

While her creative instincts were strong, Monica’s professional path was rooted in business and leadership. A Tennessee State University graduate with a degree in business, she built an accomplished career in finance and administration, rising to executive-level leadership in State of Georgia government and mastering the operational strategy behind successful organizations.

At Sew Unique, Monica brings that same expertise to the business side of design — overseeing operations, financial management, and client experience to ensure every project runs smoothly from concept to completion.

Her blend of structure and style perfectly complements the creative vision of the firm, helping turn inspired ideas into beautifully executed realities.
